What is the peace corp like?

What was your reaction to finding out where the Peace Corp was sending you?

I would like to know where you were hoping to go and where you ended up, and if in the end you wouldn't exchange what you experienced for the world. Also, I would like to hear some information regarding your personal experiences there (ex. best moments, worst moments, etc).

My son volunteered for an organization much like the Peace Corp. He wanted to go to China. Instead was sent to southern Africa. They told him, his particular abilities would be most useful there. And they were. There were times he was fearful, and times he was lonely. But all of that was overcome and he came through it a better man.
