Where can I find paid or volunteer work abroad?

How can I find volunteer work?

  • I'm out of work so I have time to spare, volunteer work will help me get a new job and if I find relevant experience it would help me in the future with my long-term career plans - looking to become a health advisor, I've seen a few roles I'd love but I need more experience working with young people (young adults, not children). How could I go about finding volunteer work, specifically volunteer work relevant to the area I’m interested in going into?

Contact your local council - they should have a voluntary services section there. You can register with them for the type of work you want to get into. NB - if you are working with anyone under 18years or vulnerable adults you will need to have a CRB check, but they should pay for that. Good luck.

i volunteer at a local animal shelter, but im sure there are hospitals or nursing homes or boys and girls clubs in your area that may need volunteers. I would look for a social services dept in the government listings in ur phone book or online for the county you live in..they should be able to give you a list...

Most towns have volunteer bureau's. Check with your local library. If you are claiming benefits, don't forget to declare your voluntary work. It shouldn't effect your benefits but you may have problems if you fail to declare it.
