Why not find a local charity to raise funds and donate time/money to? Check your local Chamber of Commerce website for non-profits. Look in the front of your phone book for state funded day cares, homeless shelters, women's abuse shelters, local museums, art schools, zoos, animal shelters, hospitals pediatric wards (could use games/books..etc)... here is one that i think is amazing...a little girl had to have chemo...she found that having an icee helped ease some of the physical pain of the treatments. she wanted to raise money to get an icee machine in each of the children cancer wards.... here is the link to the angel34.org website and the amazing story of this brave teen! There are many reputable companies that have given sponsorship dollars to this foundation....including the ICEE foundation which the site says: " The story does not end here. After Nicole’s passing, her parents contacted The ICEE Company in Ontario, California to see if they would like to help out with Nicole’s cause. To help Nicole’s wishes come true, The ICEE Company has designed a program called “Angel 34 ICEE Program”. This program would allow any Children’s Hospital in the United States to request an ICEE Machine FREE OF CHARGE with Angel 34 supplying the syrup. " and there could be a lot of fun ways to raise money for it! http://www.angel34.org/ICEE.html like: a winter carnival with ice sculpture or snow sculpture contests. selling icees at school renting a snow cone machine (about 100 bucks with all the flavorings etc) and talking a mall into lending you the space on a sat. to sell the cones to raise money. a snowball at school. a dress up occasion where you can talk local businesses (fast food places, cd shops..etc) to donate things to be auctioned off. a skate-a-thon (or ski-a-thon) where you ice skate for dollars pledged. have the art students design a charm for a bracelet or necklace that can be made inexpensively and sold to raise money! and so on.... good luck!
