How can I become an aid worker?

How do I become a relief aid worker in places like Asia or Africa?

  • I was wondering how hard it is to get work with Red Cross or some other organisation to help people in poverty or disaster areas. I was also wondering if this is all volunteer work only, and do these people have to fund their travels out of their own pockets or does the company pay for expenses and living?

    Well, first you can take a step at a time, try doing some community service for like a year or so in whatever field you choose, that you do that you are good at and then research internationally places, that you would like to help out.

Depends on what organization and what you are doing. Some places pay for you to live there, but only if you are going to LIVE there. Most of the time, you do trips. Youd live in the US but go on trips to help in these countries people when needed. A degree is good. If your a doctor, nurse, medical training is good. Medical Aid is usually needed the most. Often times these people are volunteers. The organizations, like Red Cross, calls for people to be willing to volunteer to rebuild houses, hand out donations, or ask for medical doctors to give up a few months to go help people in Haiti, etc. Sometimes you can just work for the non-profit organization in an office, and than get to a point where you start going on trips with them. --------
