If there is a program you would like to support, and they do not collect tabs, just contact your local recycling plant (by phone first, as 18% of recyclers do not accept tabs), then you can donate the funds received to your cause. There is no way to battle the foriegn oil problem, other than getting people to walk, stop wearing make-up, or throwing away plastics. However, you were interested in Global warming as well, where I have a few reservations with GREENPEACE, you could donate your money from the recycled tabs to Greenpeace International at this web page. http://www.greenpeace.org/international/ But realize that it takes up to 1,538 tabs to make 1 pound of clean aluminum, and that will only get you 50 cents to a dollar, depending where you live.

The idea of saving soda can tabs originally was a myth, as no real organization accepted these as any sort of help in any type of charity. BUT, because of the popularity of this urban myth, many organizations have adapted this process. I don't know of one that accepts them to help the environment, but The Ronald McDonald House accepts them (http://www.rmhc.com/). This is a GREAT organization that helps today's children and is very worthy of your support.
