How can I volunteer somewhere?

How can I find out where to sign up to volunteer?

• I Really really want to help by volunteering MY time and whatever needs to be done that I can do in places that need help. I would like to Volunteer especially for Sudan(because I have friends who moved to the u.s. from there and have heard quite a bit about the Country) and other parts of Africa that need help. And definitely Haiti. I don't know I guess it just pisses me off people are over here with family's of 4 living in mansions with like 40 rooms and there someone out there without a room,people are driving 100,000 dollar cars over here and there is poverty and hunger all over the world. I just feel I need to give back to the community and the world in general. I'm not rich and growing up I didn't have allot,was homeless and broke allot. But when I met people from different parts of the world I started to realize even though I was broke,Homeless,at times had nothing in the refrigerator. That I still had allot more than allot of people from different parts of the world. even though I got food stamps at least I had something to eat,even though I was on section 8 at least I had a roof over my head. Just hearing some of the story's I have heard and learning some stuff I Learned, I learned even If I did have it hard growing up there is someone else somewhere else who has it 100 times worse. I don't have allot of money but want to do what I can and give what I can give to help the less fortunate. I'm not one of those people that want to go on a "feel good" vacation for like 3weeks and come back home and tell everyone how they saved the world that's not my style!!! I'm not a super hero. This is strictly from the heart and I'm willing to do what ever I got to do for how ever long I'm needed to do it to do something positive and volunteer to Help people and a community in need. who do I contact? what can I do to help? If There is no room available for me to physically volunteer I'm cool with monetarily helping, Like I said I'm not rich but I'll do fund raisers/whatever I can to donate.   hie, im from an especially difficult african country and im so glad you feel that way.some people are so oblivious about what goes on elsewhere, its unbeleivable. when i tell them what happens in Africa, i can tell that some are really mulling it over, like "ok, now isnt she just exaggerating" anyway, thank you so much for your compassion and empathy especially considering that you are not a millionaire. you could go online for volunteer websites in your area.or you could form your own thing and that way get contacts from immigration or social services about who needs stuff the most, like food hampers u collect.and, ill tell u something, not only do those people need commodities and such, they also need to remember how to smile, how to laugh and have a good time.that is the best help, being there for them. although communication may be a problem at first. thank you again
