Has anyone ever done a volunteer vacation?

I am looking to volunteer in Brazil in the near future and wanted to know if anyone has done this previously.?

• I'm looking for a reasonably priced program that is legit and is concerned with the safety of its volunteers. The ones that I have looked at are either too expensive for my tastes or too lax in its security issues. Does anyone have any suggestions or any advice?

  My church went to Brazil a few years back and are planning another trip soon, my advice would be to find a church group from your area going, its the cheapest way,, as far as security there is always a risk, but it is minimal, if you go with someone who has already been or have someone there who is going to be with you all the time there is really not much danger,, sometimes to help others we just have to put it in Gods hands and go on.
