How to become an EMT in New Jersey?

Would it be better for a 16 year old to become an emt or just a volunteer at an ems station?

  • Im 16 and am looking at volunteering at an ems station. I know i can get emt certification at 16 but i cant be an emt until 18. So is it worth it to become emt certified, and what does it mean if im certified? Im still not an emt. Or would it be better just to volunteer to sweep floors and clean the station? Thanks

Go for it...you won't really understand the workings until you get your certification and ride. I suggest calling up your local volunteer EMT and talk to them. They are the best source for your state's rules and regulations and age requirements. Good luck!
