What are good ways for personal fund raising?

Charity Fund-raising- Help With Ways Please:)?

  • My friend and her family have set up a charity for a close relative who is ill, and they need to raise a little over £200,000. Me and my friends have decided to raise some money for them, but I'm stuck on ways to raise money! I have already organised a sponsored swim and I'm getting my sister's work to sponsor me, and I'm making and selling some things in school, like friendship bracelets and stress balls, but I desperately need other ideas of things to make and ways to raise money. Please give a list of about ten, that would be great! Thankyou so much!!! P.S. I will vote best answer xx

Probably one of the best ways to start raising money for your charity is to have other people promote it for you. There's a new site called NPO Promote (http://www.npopromote.com) that allows other people to promote their favorite charities. It looks pretty promising!

A lot of times people are not motivated to give because of Free bezzz....people love to give to passionate people who really believe in what they are raising money for. A Personal Fundraising Page can help accomplish the following: 1. Communicate a need 2. Communicate Passion 3. Communicate how much you have to go and how much you have raised 4. Communicate what you are going to do with the funds 5. Communicate how thankful you are they believe in you and what your trying to do 6. Updates, plus a lot more. There are a lot of great websites that can help. some are free: Chiping.com is good if you are raising money for something simple where you don't want to get into too much detail. YouCaring.com would be my pick if you want to raise money and have many options in communicating (video, pictures, update, ect) Great for adoption, missions, tuition, medical expenses - big plus is it is free - they run on donations. Kickstart is a good option if you need to raise money for business ventures. Hope this helps.

With the economy being the way it is, trying to raise that much through donations at the moment would be a momentous task and would require you to engage with all the fundraising techniques listed on the charity websites. If you were going to give this a go I would therefore recommend searching for the term fundraising and go from there. Depending on the medical support required, you could also look at various grant applications from organisations that support your particular needs. However, even on the news today, they are saying that charities have lost many paid jobs in the last twelve months, and that remaining charity managers are finding that they are having to get more entrepreneurial and therefore more competitive about the ways that they find their money. With this in mind, I would like to suggest researching you local community high street for a business opportunity or gap in the market, where people might be willing to spend, to see if you can create a social enterprise. If you could get something started that would make a surplus (ie a profit that doesnt go in your pocket) then you could create a steady flow of funds to contribute to your target. After the target has been met, the enterprise could carry on raising funds for the same medical issue or illness, and your friends relative will not only have recovered, but will also have her family and friends to thank for becoming the inspiration behind your local enterprise. Social enterprise is a movement that is only in its infancy at the moment. As we are going to need to find new ways to fund many of our expected and demanded community services, it is likely that the country will eventually need to increase the percentage of this type of activity in the economy to reach a sustainable balance. You would therefore also be doing something which is likely to become more common in the near future. Hope this might have helped a little positively enterprising
