What non-profit organizations do you know?

Does anyone know what organizations are out there that pay loved ones for caring for our elderly parents etc.?

  • I was told that loved ones can get paid for the 24 hr. care we give to our medically needy loved ones. Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about. I was told I could be compensated for all the hrs I spend caring for my dad-doctor appointments etc. Everyday care...

Wow, this is an amazing question. I am 70 yrs and sometime in the future, it will happen and I will have to be cared for. My parents had to be cared for and the nursing home home took everything they had. They also took their social security. Getting old is big business. I suggest a web site. http://caregiving.org/pubs/brochures/agingparents.pdf

Provided they are not on retirement social security, you can get paid for taking care of a family member who is disabled. THis is not possible after they reach retirement age. At least in illinois. Look up the dept of rehabilitation services or similar named organization.

In my state it is called the Advantage program and it does provide some financial support to those who choose to take care of incapacitated family members in lieu of working full time.
