What is a "no-kill" shelter?

Are there any domestic abuse shelter workers out there i could interview?!?

  • Im doing a project for a course im taking from the HSUS im suppose to interview a domestic abuse shelter worker, but the shelter around here will not get back in touch with me. are there any shelter workers out there who would be willing to answer these questions for me? i would really appreciate it! :) 1) Do the individuals seeking refuge at the shelter ever report animal cruelty in their homes? If yes, is it frequent? 2) Do you record data on pet ownership and animal cruelty among the clients? If so, do you find such data useful? How? If not, what are some of the reasons that you do not record such data? 3) Does your shelter or a nearby animal shelter offer temporary homes to pets of battered individuals? 4) How can teens help children, adults and animals who are victims of domestic violence?

  • Answer:

Instead of calling, why don't you go to the domestic shelter location and ask in person. Many times agencies won't give out information over the phone...and there are many, many confidential issues too. Go and talk. Hope this helps.
