Does anyone know of any overseas volunteer programs?

Does anyone know of some great volunteer programs to look into?

• I am going to be getting out of the military in about a year, and I am researching some volunteer programs to go out of the states for about 2 weeks - 6 months. I've read about programs that will pay your way and others that will charge you. Just trying to get some feedback from some people who have been apart of one. thanks.

My grandfather fought in the military, and he used to tell me some quite interesting stories; it's just fascinating! Anyways, some of my own ideas could be to volunteer at your local soup kitchen.
