What is it like for teens to volunteer at a hospital?

What are some volunteer opportunities available for teens?

  • I need volunteer hours for school, but am having trouble finding places I don't want to volunteer in a hospital because I have a severe phobia of them. I would like to do something to help wildlife or animals, but this is not necessary. Please send any suggestions!

    -since you said you like animals, i know at the Denver Zoo you are aloud to volunteer in the nursery to explain to the children about the animals or just to help feed them cause some need bottles. (not sure about the zoo where you live though) -a VERY boring place you can get community service hours for is the library, you can replace books in the correct place or read to kids, both of which i hate, idk about you though. -or Girl Scout Camp, it sounds lame but it was actually a TON of fun, and you get to teach them how to horse back ride, and just a lot of fun nature hikes and stuff like that. im not sure how old you are but you have to be 14+ it was also fun because you get to stay up in the mountains for weeks-months at a time and have fun. but idk what your into. Oh, and the bonfires were fun because you get to sing and dance. xD -or work as a manager at your schools volleyball/football/track games. its easy, fun, and half the time you can just wonder off with friends and still get the hours.

-Try joining a key club. -Help w/ animals at PetSmart. ** -Check if Race for the Cure is in your area, they get lots of volunteers. -Check if any other important events (like diabetes walks) are in your area and if you can volunteer. -Check retirement homes. -Hospitals.

An animal shelter, humane society, horse ranch, animal rescue league in your area. My daughter volunteered at a horseback riding ranch for a few years when she was an early teen. She loved it.
