Why to Join Peace Corps?

Should I join the peace corps?

• I am about to enter college and would love to join the peace corps when I graduate. I want to make a difference in this world and experience something great. I know it is hard to be accepted into the peace corps but if you have any tips as to what I should be doing now in order to be accepted that would be great. I am an average student, soon to be college athlete, and have not volunteered any where yet. If i volunteer at the hospital and humane society every summer will that be enough volunteer experience??? I also do not know what to major in. I was thinking environmental science or nursing. would environmental science get me anywhere in the peace corps?

  ABSOLUTELY, environmental science aannndd nursing will work wonders for you in the Peace Corps. I wanted to join, but as a teacher. Come to figure, they have more than plenty of those. Their focus is on health and water sanitation. (more science-ey things. Depending on WHERE in the world you want to go with the Peace Corps, I strongly suggest learning that language. Also, do a little research... culture shock is a b*tch! As far as volunteering, I dont' think you need EXCESSIVE amounts (a little always helps). I would recommend getting more experience working in the field in which you'd like to be.
