Where can I donate my clothes to the RIGHT people?

  • I have lots of clothes, some brand new, that I have been given to and never worn as some were not my style. I want to donate my clothes to charities but I don't know where. There are really big bins that collect clothes where I live but I have seen MANY MANY times, fashionable young girls, with expensive shoes and bags stealing from the bins, getting old coats, or sweaters or tops to turn them into their "fashion project" and wear them as a fashion statement. I live in a hip and rich student area. What can I do. I live in the UK - London

Do some research by looking through your phone book, or searching online for charities. Upscale clothes are not going to do extremely poor people much good, as they do not fit their life style It might be better to have a fashion show and auction, where you and your friends and neighbors could donate and model those clothes, then the money made from the show could go to the charity. People who are looking for upscale clothes for a pittance can get what they want, you will get rid of your old, out of season clothes, and the charities will get the money. And everyone would have a good time. Good luck.

Lots of Great Places.....Check out the LOCAL charities in YOUR area.... Or Salvation Army, ..... Maybe do a bit of research in the area you live in.....I know that there are many needy people and teens, who would be grateful for your gifts....Shame on the slobs that go through the bins.. Maybe check with your local social services...they can direct you.. Yes I know, a bit more work, but, at least if will get to the people who really need the clothes :-)) Every little bit really does count.....sometimes....time spent caring is more important than the item donated....

take and give directly to a charity shop of your choice, there are dozens of them in towns and citiies. all representing different charities, they will welcome your donations, and you will be sure they will bought and paid by for, and your donations will go to a good cause.
