How to start a charity?

How to start a charity organization in South Africa . . .?

• I am a South African citizen and am looking for information on how to go about starting my own charity organization. I feel that all the organizations in SA tend to focus more on all other countries when there's so much poverty in ours. I've recently been to a location where we built a house for a lady - her previous house was a 1 room shack where she housed herself and her 3 grandchildren and also gave shelter to 2 other kids from the neighbourhood whose parents have passed on, and she does all this on a R400 salary as does most of the people in her community. There are so many people who I met on this trip who are really suffering, most of these families can only afford to eat 1 meal a day and barely have enough clothes to keep them warm in winter, and I don't see anyone doing anything for them. So I'd like information on how to go about registering a charity organization and any other legal requirements that I would need to tend to before starting my charity organization. I'd like to finally give meaning to the words "Charity begins at home"
