How can I find any volunteer works?
-
I am a student who is studying English in Santa Clara, CA. I want to do volunteer works. I will be worthwhile if I do volunteer works. And I think it is helpful for me to improve my English. Because I think I will get opportunity that speak in English with native. Of course, I can't speak English well. But I really want to improve it. Last week, I asked to my English teacher, who teaches English in ESL school, about volunteer works. She introduce the Internet site, Craigslist.org. I've found at that site, but there was 1 work in Santa Clara. It was not the work which I can do. Please show me how I can find volunteer works. Thank you.

I am sure churches or hospitals will take volunteers. Try your local foodbank too. Animal shelters, or anything that relates to what you want as a career usually need volunteers. Women shelters, salvation army, etc. There is sooo much.

Look in the telephone directory for shelters for the homeless, hospitals, nursery schools, libraries, shelters for abused women and children, orphanages, etc. Go personally to each one and offer your services until one says 'yes.'
