How can I raise money for a good cause?

Quick, easy and unique ways to raise money for a good cause?

  • My mom had ulcertive colitis and recently went through 3 major surgeries. She just was diagnosed with Crohns Disease and is now out of work for a while. With all her surgeries she was out of work altogether for about 2 months. As you can imagine, the bills don't get paid without money and her medical bills are crushing her. I am throwing a benefit for her some time in January but, I need to find a way to raise money for her besides that. She won't be getting a paycheck for another 3 weeks when she returns back to work. What are some ways I could get the community to help me raise money so she can catch up on her bills so she doesn't end up in debt! Any answers will be greatly appreciated!

I would recommend Church. I personally am not religious but I understand that many churches are willing to help maybe a bake sale at a church gathering some volunteers to help bake and then set a sale date. I've seen people do this and come out pretty well. Its something many people can participate in and who doesn't love home made baked goods?? Consider this food for thought. Good luck!

A benefit is a great idea. Believe it or not, putting up change jars at gas stations and other high traffic stores works too. It's very simple, and can bring in some extra funds. Also, a bake sale is a good fundraiser. Call around and ask a few businesses if you can host the sale in front of their store on a weekend. I did one at ACE Hardware, and raised a good chunk of money. At your benefit, maybe hold a silent auction or raffle. Many businesses will donate things for you to raffle off. A word of caution though, if you're going to try to get donations from big corporations/retailers (Target, Walmart, etc) it will take several weeks for approval, so get started as early as you can.
