What are some good charity organizations?

What are your favorite charity organizations?

  • Thought I would start off the year right by helping those in need. What are you favorite charities? Tell the name and what they do. Never donated to charity before, so not sure which one is right for me. For example I'd be way more willing to donate to a charity that helps feed starving people than a charity that helps lift wrinkles off the face of old rich people. Thanks.

    Salvation Army. Their CEO makes only something like 11k a year. Meaning, the money goes where it's supposed to, as opposed to many other big-name organizations where the heads make hundreds of thousands to tens of millions per year. I think the VFW is another good one that's known to be really good about honest monetary allocation. Do some online research to find a charity/charities that have open books (i.e. their finances are open to public viewing).
