How can I get community service?

How can I get my parents to stop making me do community service?

• Ok so I had to do community service for religion class and to get into national junior honor society. I had to have it all done by the end of december. I had it all done 2 months in advance, (I was and still am volunteering in my local library) yet i continued to do it. It's now the end of January and I am tired of doing it. I have tried to explain to my parents that I don't want to do it anymore but they won't let me stop. Can anyone tell me how I can persuade them to stop forcing me to do it? Thank you!(:

  Volunteering is a fantastic way to gain experience, especially if youre young. It looks great on a resume which is especially great if you dont have much work experience. Being forced to volunteer at a place that you dont like does definitely suck. There are so many ways to volunteer at so many different kind of places that there might actually be some where that you enjoy going to. Have you though of a compromise such as you agreeing to find another volunteer position that suits you better than the library? If youre in Canada, check out katimavik.org , a program for 17-21 yrs.
