How to send an item through USPS?

If I send a cd using USPS media mail will the charge include a box or envelope to send the item?

  • Or is the media mail charge just for the service?

  • Answer:

The Post Office should have some cushioned envelopes for sale that would hold a CD. You could send it first class and the postage would probably be less than $2.00. If you'd like to be able to get a delivery confirmation, you could add that for up to 60 cents more if I'm not mistaken.

If you don't have a regular, plain cardboard box to put it in and mail it via Media Mail, you can send it Priority Mail for $4.05. Priority Mail boxes are available at your local Post Office for free. FYI: Media Mail takes longer to deliver than Priority Mail, which takes 2-3 business days.

it depends on the box.
