Does anyone know any english companies or charities that would sponsor me to go on an expedition to kenya?

I’m a 17 year old student and I am going to kenya for a few weeks next year to do charity work such as building schools and improving the welfare of the local communities. However I need to raise a couple of thousand pound to be able to go, therefore I am looking for any charities or companies that would sponsor me to make this possible.

Answer:
Companies are inundated with requests from people who are going to the developing world to volunteer. INUNDATED. So you will have to do a lot to set yourself apart from the pack of others also asking for money. Create a Flickr account to share photos about your experience, and a blog (here on Yahoo, via your profile, or via something else, such as MySpace, FaceBook or another blog service) about your experience. YOu can start this blog NOW, talking about why you wanted to do this, how you researched organizations to help, how you chose Kenya, etc. Also, determine how much YOU are going to contribute for your trip. Set a personal goal of a certain amount of money you are going to raise yourself, through work, to show that you are not expecting someone to magically pay for everything, that you understand that you have some responsibility as well. Determine how much your parents/family would be willing to pay as well. Finally, would you be willing to commit to do presentations at local schools and service clubs about your experience when you are back? If so, start talking to these schools and clubs NOW, and make sure they are interested. Now, document all of the above into a formal WRITTEN proposal. And ask your family, neighbors and friends whom they work for, and the names of the key people at these organizations, and send your written proposal to these folks. Personalize your letter to each, explaining why you have written. You will be very, very lucky if you raise 500 pounds via this method, but it is worth pursuing. Finally, there's a great book called "How to Live Your Dream of Volunteering Overseas" -- look for it online. It has a lot more tips for fundraising.

You will have to do a lot of research and asking people but if its in your future it will come to pass, check out anything the UN is doing there and Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, these guys give out alot of money every year for people like you to go and work, you just never know, it could be you, Good luck and may God Be With YOU!!

I don't know of any but you can TRY asking local businesses. Just gather some information together to show them that you're not a kid just trying to get some extra money to blow and see what they say.
