How difficult is it to join the Peace Corps?

How hard will it be for me to join the peace corps?

  • I'm only a freshman in college, but want to join in order to get a better perspective on the world before I choose a career. However, I am worried that I will not get in and my missed year(s) of school will be for waste. Anybody know what my chances are?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. You don't mean applying to serve in the Peace Corps right now, do you? If that's what you're asking, it's irrelevant. Peace Corps will not accept you without a four-year degree unless you happen to have 10+ years in a particular work field for which they need people. You don't "miss" years of college. That part of your question doesn't make a lick of sense. There is no rule that you have to go to college at this time or this time and four years in a row. So if you did stop after a year or two and then return years later (like my brother, who's getting his degree at 42), you didn't "miss" any time at all. My guess is you think Peace Corps something it's not. Lots of people do. The fact it it's an organization that sends trained people into the developing world. To be trained, you have to have a degree or work experience.
