Why to Join Peace Corps?

Why should I not apply to join the Peace Corps?

  • I will be graduating early and receiving my Bachelors Degree in Psychology minoring in Visual Arts. Ideally, I want to use this education to help people and not be in this country when I do it... As great as the Peace Corps seems to be, should I wait, or try to jump right in and get my Masters afterwards? I need brutally honest opinions and suggestions!

  • Answer:

As someone who was in Peace Corps, I'd suggest getting real world experience first. Although many people do go straight from college to service, in my experience the people who had been in the workforce for a period had more realistic expectations and overall coped and did a better job. The average age of a PCV is 27 or 28.
