What is civil service nursing?

Doing Community Service at a nursing home. PLZ HELP WITH ANY IDEAS!!?

  • Well me and my friend are doing community service at a nursing home and we are in 8th grade. What are some activites you can do with them. What are some really crafty CHEAP gifts that we can make or give them

    Ask their family history, then write it down in a book especially for them. If you get a chance go online and see if you can find anything out. Also ask for stories on growing up, getting married, etc... They went through so much with Depression, World War, Korea War, etc... that a lot of that information is getting lost. I do genealogy and my grandmother loved it that I was able to get a copy of her parent's marriage certificate and some information, right before she passed away. It was also discovered that her fil was buried by where my dad grew up and that was something he wasn't aware of either.

I used to play Risk against my 90 year old grandmother, and she would kick my butt. I have never seen such a wonderful strategist. Nothing beats board games. Mostly they are just happy someone cares about them. Nothing is better than making them feel useful. Whatever you do, make it at least seem like you are having a great time and it is because of them.

just do little things like helping them draw pictures and stuff. you can get like a pack of pipe cleaners for a dollar and make bracelets and stuff.

You could start making jewlery. It is really fun and you could make those to give them. Then while you are with them you could have premade wreath's and then have them color them with berries and things and then make them into a chain link for the count down till christmas.

Bake them cookies in Christmas-y shapes, decorate little baskets or little cardboard boxes with Christmas wrapping paper and add a little stuffed doll or animal from the dollar store or sing with them.

buy some felt,glue,ribbon and glitter and add there names to there doors to personalize each one,in different shapes.or for different holidays.Use a thumb tack to secure, the ribbon to each door.
