How do I donate my money to schools and hospitals around the world?

• (This is for future reference if I become successful in the business world) My plan initially is to set up a means to donate my own money to schools and hospitals to countries around the world. I was thinking that they could e - mail me some information about their establishment such as address, what they need money for, religion their associated with etc. I would input this information into a database and then when I'm not busy inform them I will be able to see them vie e- mail and fly out there and donate the money to them when I visit their country/ area. But I have many worries about this which make me scared about doing this charity work and I would appreciate you offer sensible answers to (numbered please) 1) How would I get the money to people in different countries if they have completely different banks to me in UK or America? 2) Will it be safe for me to fly out to other countries, visiting the schools or hospitals and handing out cheques ranging from £5000 - £10000? i.e. should I worry about being mugged? how do I avoid this? 3) if I send cheques by post how do I know they'll be used appropriately and not stolen/ used by fraudsters? 4) How do I know that the hospital or school I'm donating to is real and not some fraudsters? 5) How can I make sure that when I send out all these cheques (which will have my signature on them) wont be used by fraudsters or abused.   Each country - including the UK - has very strict guidelines on the transfer of funds to other nations. If you want to give directly to schools and hospitals, you will have to pay bank fees and taxes to a variety of governments, you will have to keep very strict records about where the money is going, and you will have to deal with law enforcement if they become suspicious about the money you are sending overseas. In other words, it will be very expensive and very time consuming and NONE of the money you give will be tax deductible. A much better idea is to identify credible international NGOs that support schools and hospitals, that have the resources to make sure funds are used properly, and donate through them. Then you not only do not have to pay any fees, but your gifts will often be tax-deductible.
