What do ambulance staff think of british red cross?

Could an international student get a volunteer work in Australia charity and how to find?

  • (1) I am going to study in Brisbane, Australia next year. I am concerning about doing volunteer work after school. But the school staff told me it is IMPOSSIBLE to find volunteer work in Australia. The reason is charities don't bother to do the insurance coverage for a non paid staff. The charities prefer to employ paid staff. Is it correct? (2) i feel very strange, if charities only employ paid staff to work, their maintenance cost are high and this means no australians do unpaid volunteer work ? In my concept, volunteer workers are the one who are willing not to get any money from charities and volunteer their time to help). so all volunteer workers are paid workers in charities due to the school staff's theory????!! (3) If not, how can i find a volunteer work in advance before i come to Australia? (i need to get confirmation from charity that i really can work before i come) (4) please name a few australia charities links which take international students as volunteer worker. (5) for example, australia hosiptal or red cross or .........I dont know the charities name, i just try to name some worldwide charities here to ask if any similiar types of charities that would take non citizens who are students from overseas to be a volunteer worker. (6) I prefer the location of charities are in Brisbane (because my future school is in Brisbane), if not it is also ok to work in other cities, then i choose another school to study. (7) please give the direct links of volunteer work hyperlink from aussie charities and their office addresses. (8) Is it possible to find volunteer work in business firms and hotels and resturants? (profitable companies). (9) if the answer of 8 is yes, please also give me direct links of such companies . Please answer my questions point by point to make me easier to understand since i am not an native english speaker. Thanks. ** if i cannot find volunteer work , i think i might not go to australia, cos my reason in coming is not mainly for studying ( i just via study to have the chance to live in this lovely country for a while, i only attend a short course- half year). I like Australia, I choose Australia to study is for making aussie friends and boarden my horizon by having social activities outside school via working in aussie organisations. The school i apply has no work placement. you might say i can try to apply for a paid job , but i dont think i will be employed since i have no specific technique, i am only an office clerk in my home country.

Yes you can volunteer for charity work..try.... Saint Vincent De Paul Salvation Army RSPCA...animal shelter Nursing Homes (old age peoples homes) Soup Kitchens (for homeless people) You can not volunteer for work at hotels or businesses as they are by law required to pay you a wage.
