Volunteer work at the Children's Hospital?

Can 13 year olds volunteer at a childrens hospital?

  • k so im 13 and i live in MN and i want 2 volunteer at a childrens hospital. i tried applicating a week ago and it said junior high can, but my mom called them and found out tht u have 2 b 14 at least. is there any way i can volunteer at a hospital even though im only 13?? i dont want 2 do surgery or anything like tht i just want 2 like visit the kids or whatever

  • Answer:

A hospital might make exceptions, but usually 13 is considered a little young, because even visiting the pediatrics wing in a hospital or a childrens' hospital can expose a 13-year-old to some surprising things that they could have difficulty with. However, I think you should plan to pursue your goal, since it is an outstanding one, even if you have to wait to be 14 years old. Best wishes.

You would need a PVG to work with children for a start

In my state you have to be 16 and have both a permission slip from your parents and one from your school. I know that's not a lot of help, but I really just wanted to post an answer to say that you have a truly wonderful attitude. Someone like you would probably cheer up a lot of the little ones in the children's ward. Hope you keep the great outlook on life!

Nope, sorry. Too many legal liabilities. Hope this helps.
