Has anyone volunteered in Kenya and can recommend a reputable volunteer organization?

  There is a listing of the more-than-30 member organizations of the International Volunteers Program Association (IVPA) that is a good place to find reputable volunteer-for-a-fee programs -- programs where you don't need to have much experience in order to participate, and the placements are just for a few weeks or months. Not sure how many send to Kenya: http://www.volunteerinternational.org/ Many of the major volunteer sending organizations that send highly-skilled, experienced people to the developing world (but don't charge volunteers) do placements in Kenya. But this is based on the skills needed by a specific area (a doctor, for instance). However, be aware that Kenya has a lot of educated people of its own -- in fact, organizations like UN Volunteers sends volunteers *from* Kenya to other countries.
