Barometer Question - EASY if you know how to read one...?
-
What is the pressure at the top of the mercury in a barometer? NOT the space above the mercury...I know that's 0 because of the vacuum, but what is the pressure at the mercury's top? Like if the barometer read 30.0, that's the outside atmospheric pressure, so is that the pressure at the top of the mercury too? Thanks!

Answer:
Usually if you are at sea level the pressure is 14.7 lbs/in^2... "so is that the pressure at the top of the mercury too?" Yes...
