State Universities I HAVE ONE ''D'' GRADE?

  • I am not aiming for any noteworthy prestigious colleges. I`m only aiming for any 4 year state universities/colleges I could be able to get accepted into. WILL STATE UNIVERSITIES/COLLEGES ACCEPT ME IF I HAVE A ``D``?? I am a senior in high school who lives in california and i really want to attend a state university / university in new york. however...i have a low gpa..2.9. Throughout my high school years, i have had only A's, B's, and C's as my grades. HOWEVER, during my junior year, second semester, i received a D in algebra two trig and i was so disappointed!! im making up that class though, but i wont be done making it up until november. I scored 1800 on my SAT score and I am in two programs: AVID ( for five years) and Volunteers of Upward Bound America ( three years) is it better for me to fill out college applications this month or should i wait until december? by december, ill be able to be finish making up that D i got in aglebra two trig and ill end up with all A's, B's, and C's as my 9th-11th grades only :) i really want to attend a state university in new york because here in california, the public schools are full of budget cuts and i want to try living in a new state like new york to be independent yes, i know that attending an out of state college will cost more than the students who are already living in states and have residency i heard that registering for colleges earlier is better.. THESE ARE MY CLASSES that i am taking for my senior year right now and I am doing very WELL in them . vietnamese honors 4 ap economics ap government avid physics (4th year of science) art of flim college prep english THESE ARE MY ACADEMIC INDICATORS ( GPA ) 9-12 Incl PE: 3.2100 Senior Rank: of 637 10-12 A-E,G: 2.8500 9-12 Excl PE: 3.1100 UnWgt 9-12 Incl PE: 3.1500 UnWgt 10-12 Excl PE: 2.9100 Last Semester: 2.8700 Graduation Year: 2012

  • Answer:

You will get in do not worry! State schools are much easier to get into than private or state affiliated schools. Your grades are good and you scored really high on your SAT which looks good to colleges. Also, if you are really worried you can attach an essay to your application and explain why you received a D and what you did to fix that grade (taking another class to make it up). You really don't need to stress so much. All highschoolers are overly worried about getting into college. Relax, you'll definitely get into a state school. Also, try to bring your GPA up to a 3.00 this semester and apply when you finish 1st semester.
