What Are Some 2012 Proxies?

What do you think will happen on 2012?

• Okay, I'm not some crazy person who is counting down the days until our death...I just find it kind of interesting the reasons people do think it is going to happen. There a lot of different ways people think it will happen. Here are the ones I've heard.... 1.) EARTH IN THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE: This is kind of the Mayan Calendars thing. The Mayans created a calendar predicting many events. It started with the first time the earth was in the center and ends with December 21st, 2012. So this means that the earth will end. 2.) BECAUSE OF NUMBER ONE: WE EVOLVE! So if we don't all die, so instead we evolve. I have to say this one would be cool. 3.) WEATHER Basically natural disasters kill us all. Like super volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, etc... 4.) ZOMBIES a. People that already died come back from the dead and try to eat us. b. A Virus turns people into Zombies and they try to eat us 5.) NOTHING! Nothing happens on 2012 and we all go home kind of disappointed. ----------------------------- Now I don't really believe in the whole 2012 type, but again, I do find it interesting. I kind want something to happen (maybe not all the people dying...) just so I can say 'I survived the Apocalypse!' and go on some great adventure or something (I watch too many movies...). THE QUESTIONS: 1.) What other theories have you heard on 2012 2.) Does that theory have any proof? 3.) What do you think will actually happen on 2012? What would you like to happen? 4.) What do you think all the hard core believers do if nothing happens? (all the people who spend their life savings, build underground forts...) Even if nothing happens on December 21st, 2012 I do think the day will be remembered. Just for the reactions and what all the extremists do.

  Theories: 4) Zombies - Would be incredibly epic, but as a realist, I have to say 5. Question: 1) Not sure about other theories, but an 'end of the world' story finds its way into the media every few years, because it sells. People will buy a paper if it's screaming "You're going to die! This Is How!". After 2012 fails, there'll be another end of the world story, probably set for 2014, or maybe 'bearflu!', we haven't had that yet, have we? 2) Theory of media churning out doomsday stories - if they do indeed churn out one imminently after 2012, then point proven. 3) See theories. 4) I think leading up, some will buy too much food and petrol (so there'll be shortages and high prices for a short period), some will be ranting via the internet or taking to the street saying how we're all damned. Some will probably loot/ riot, whilst some may go as far as committing suicide to escape whatever's not going to happen.
