Why we feel cold during fever, even body temperature is high?

Why do we feel hot if the temperature outside is the same as our body's core temperature?

  • I always thought we would feel no difference temperature, just being neutral...

  • Answer:

Our body tries constantly to keep a same temperature. It must then produce heat or cold, denpending on the situation. Heat is produced by burning energy from hydrocarbon with oxygen. Cold is produce by sweating. Water needs to take heat energy in order to evaporate. That cools down our skin. When the ambient temperature is the same as the body temperature, it must constantly do something to cool it down, in other to compensate for the energy burnt when we move, breath or even, think. It is therefore normal that we feel best at a temperature lower than the one of our body; a temperature that can easily be adjusted by energy combustion or sweat cooling.
