What is your opinion about animal testing and how it is portrayed in the media? I have to do a project (an ACP) for my Citizenship GCSE and I have decided to do the topic of animal testing and how it is portrayed in the media. I would like to do a survey, so please answer the following questions (How much you agree with each statement): Key: 1=I definitely agree, 2= I moderately agree, 3= I don't know, 4= I moderately don't agree, 5= I definitely don't agree. Q1. I know enough about animal testing to form an opinion. Q2. I think animal testing should be done. Q3. I think that the media is biased when portraying animal testing and related issues. Q4. I would like to learn more about animal testing. Also, it would be helpful if you could also write your rough age band (20-30, 30-40 etc.), country and gender.

Answer:
1- 1 I am huge into animal rights but I also see both sides of the argument and I always remain unbiased and look at what's the best solution. 2- 2 I can't pick exactly because I do think we need to have animal testing done but those animals need to be treated right no abuse whatsoever and all experiments need to uphold the animals rights. 3- 1 I feel media portrays animal testing as this horrible thing where animals are abused and that is not the case there are pros and cons of animal testing and people need to acknowledge this and realize if scientists uphold the animals rights then animal testing can be good. 4- 1 Though I do know a lot about animal testing already I would love to learn as much as possible. Canada, Female, age is lower then 20 higher than 11

I have seen photos of animals being tested for something, - god knows what. The scenes are ghastly and macabre. For example there is a picture where a dog's head is separated from its body and being kept alive by machinerry... I cannot see any benefits deriving from this type of experimentation and it seems to me to be an expression of the scientist's fascination with the bizarre and ungodly. To be fair, this is probably an exceptional case but, maybe not. In any event such kinds of testing are out of whack with, and an insult to nature, and an example of the depths to which Man will sink in his exploitation of other life forms, as well as humans. In the "popular" media of course such extreme examples are never presented for several reasons; one being that they are part of the corporate greed money system.
