Is Pharmacy a good career? - Pharmacist?

  • Im currently in year 11 and for my sixth form i chosen to Biology, Chemistry, Business Studies and Pyscology. My GCSES are Additonal Science - B and Core Science -C which im trying to improve to a B atleast, Also doing a separate Biology GCSE this year I want to know if being a Pharmacist in the UK is a good career with good pay. And could you suggest any other Healthcare related careers that could interest me. Thanks

    not sure about the UK but in ireland (I assume the health care system is roughly similar) its a very good job with a high entrance salary (upwards of 55,000 euro/year) even if your only working in a pharmacy. theres very little chance of being unemployed seeing as every pharmacy has to have a qualified pharmacist working at all times. your subject choices are good and you have business studies aswell so you could always look into opening your own pharmacy later on in life which brings in really good money. good luck either way :)

if you like to stand up 14 hours a day and deal with drug addicts that bribe you for drugs with their cash. then yeah. its really not a easy job trust me. they do make decent money, (average over 100k a year.) but its reallly not worth it to me. I think its also the highest suicide rate job. dentist or dentist specialist surgeon (lol i wouldn't pick it either, they work long long stressfull hours. nurse? optometrist general doctor

I live in Canada. From my observations almost all pharmacists are women and asian immigrants. To me this seems more than mere chance . The industry - like many others is controlled by anti-social forces and I bel;ieve the same is true in all countries having white European origins. You should give this some thought !
