  Genetic engineering. This technology can create food that is much better for you than nature can create. Like rice and other grains that pack more nutrients, vegetable full of flavor and resistant to disease and pests. You can produce livestock animals like cows and pigs with desirable characteristics such as lower fat content. You can also produce domestic animals with more desirable traits like certain fur color/coat. However some societal concerns arise. Some people will not eat something that has been altered. As well we do not know the long term affects of consuming genetically altered food. Even if it is supposed to be healthier, there is no guarantee.
