What does mummification have to do with science?

What can science achieve?

  • I am really baffled as to the amount of people that think science can help one understand completely everything about life and its truths without resorting to anything else. We must remember that science is based upon the five senses of man, nothing more. Therefore, it is obvious that there will be some limitations and mistakes due to the limitations of men and their scientific measurements. We already know how much science has had to correct itself now and again, such as when the world was believed to be flat, the mirror was thought to be its own light, the concept of caloric particles of heat, and now the measurement of neutrinos faster than light. Is science really that reliable that we can base our whole life upon it? We also know about things in science that can't use its five senses for its approval such as quarks so what makes us think science can prove everything? Yes I know that science is "working at it" but are you willing to trust that as your life slips past your eyes? Maybe there was a critical truth that science just missed and it's too late. Let me give you an example. When you see a painting, you know there was a painter that produced it. When you see a product you know there was a producer. So when I see creation I know there was a creator. Simple. Who cares if science hasn't "proven" it yet with the five senses. Truths in life are just simple. It's a shame though that science is dominated by people of greed that just want to hide the truth sometimes, because believing in a creator implies a lot of devotion. So the question is: Why? Peace.

  • Answer:

Wow you ask a zillion questions there. Where to begin??? 1. We all do science every day. When you ask what shall I have for dinner, you use the scientific method to arrive at something yummy. It is just common sense, made more formal and exact. 2. Yes, science changes its mind. Isn't that good? In the face of hard evidence, isn't that the sane thing to do??? 3. Where else can you find the truth? Astrology? National Enquirer? 4. I believe God created the earth and the universe too. He did it by writing the laws of physics, then lighting the big firecracker that started the Big Bang. Evolution was all in his plan. 5. Who thinks science has ALL the answers? Not the scientists. There are some things that science cannot do, like measure love, or eternity or the value of prayer. 6. You think religion has some goofy concepts, try looking at string theory. 7. Scientists greedy? Naaaa... if that were true, they would not be scientists. Many scientists are having so much fun doing science that they don't care that they drive a beat up old Chevy. 8 Scientists believed the earth was flat? Naaa. That was ancient civilizations that believed that. It was a scientist name Pythagoras that showed that the earth is spherical. Anyway, thanks for some interesting topics.

Science.. Can do pretty much anything. Some peoples just say "no no thats impossible" The other dude that answered said Science cannot "calculate love" or whatever Well someday it will.. because science have almost no limit. In Medieval ages , Anyone would think that Destroying an entire city in a few seconds was totaly impossible. well today we have nukes , it is possible. Science is so cool bro. Science can achieve anything.

"such as when the world was believed to be flat..." Yes, that came from an interpretation of the Bible: Matthew 4:8, Isaiah 40:22, etc.... "Is science really that reliable that we can base our whole life upon it?" No, it isn't - but we do bet our lives on it. If our science based were to collapse most people would die from want of almost everything - like food, etc... "We also know about things in science that can't use its five senses for its approval such as quarks so what makes us think science can prove everything?" I assume you mean ; "We also know about things in science where we can't use our five senses to verify - such as quarks, so what makes us think science can prove everything? But we HAVE verified the existence of Quarks - we use extensions to our senses in order to do that... "So when I see creation I know there was a creator..." Standard creationist B.S. What kind of a weird bastard would "design" a sexual playground right next to a toxic waste DUMP!!!
