Answer:
Many animals have more sensitive senses, such as hearing or smelling. They can hear or perceive vibrations, or changes in nature or the weather in a more wide scale than humans or even instruments. There are many examples of this fact. The closest one I can mention is my dogs *knowing* that there's someone at the door or that my husband is arriving in our house on his car even before we can hear anything. The same applies to earthquakes, for instance. They feel the unusual vibration, they hear the rumble and they start barking in alert. It is also known that many wild animals can perceive changes in the air humidity, that could lead them to anticipate a storm; or a sudden change in the landscape or natural sounds of the environment, which led many animals to flee right before the tsunami in Thailand 2 years ago. Nature is fascinating and animals are an amazing part of it, so much wiser and better fit than us, their naked two - legged relatives. - Magoo

actually YES they can. depending upon which type of disaster you are talking about, different animals can pick up signals that we are unable to process. for example, dogs' brains are very much more in tune to electrical impulses than humans. that is why dogs 'freak out' or get fidgety when there is an impending thunderstorm or electrical storm. this is also seen in dogs when the main breaker switch in the electrical panel is turned off. in this case, the sudden absence of electric current running through the wires startles many dogs. in the case of impending storms, (where sometimes we say we can 'smell' a storm coming)... if it turns out to be an electrical storm with lots of lightning, many dogs can sense the mounting electricity in the atmosphere. it is a tremendous buildup and they know it is coming far in advance of seeing it.

Animals are indeed more sensitive to things like say, pressure changes- indicating that a storm may be on the rise. I know that dogs can feel this because they squirm and whimper when it happens

Nope. If they could, why did so many animals die in Katrina? And the tsunami? And in the earthquake in Pakistan? Case solved. Animals don't know any more than you do. Probably less, since they can't understand weather reports.

no, nobody/thing can PREDICT things like that. Animals are just more sensitive and in tune with those things we cannot see and what humans like to make stories to cover because they dont understand. animals may behave diffently prior to an incident because its already in motion undectably to human perception.

nope, animals can't foretell / see the future any more than we can. however, animals are less intellectual and more natural than us, and they also tend to have better senses (hearing, etc.) so in the case of SOME natural disasters, their senses, and the fact that they listen to their senses because they're not connected to the Internet or watching Prison Break, mean that they may sense that something is wrong, before we human beings do. and I guess that, by definition, "predict" means that you can tell about something before it happens. And "happens" means that it affects our senses. so I guess that, if an animal can react to an upcoming disaster because, for it, that disaster is already starting to happen, but for us nothing is yet visible, then up to a point, from an etymological point of view, animals are able to "pre-dict" disasters. but in reality, of course, they cannot. in the same vein, if you're us civilised humans, and you fly over some bush in a helicopted, and you see a big bush fire approaching, and you fly to a primitive village you know, and you tell them "in 2 days a fire will be on you, run for your life!", is it right, or not, to say that you "predicted" the fire. Etymologically, yes. In the reality of the inhabitants of that primitive village, yes. In your reality, no. Hope this helps

yes my dog feakal barked up a storm after i ate some bean salad... he barked and barked.. and barked.. he wouldn't let it go... he kept yanking on my pants legs.. he bit me and ran i chased him out to the pool area... he jumped in it... i stood there yelling at him then it hit... i flatuated pretty hard... it was bad.. i nearly fainted. the air was a glow and the trees, bushes... other shrubs swayed back and forth and the air was foul..... he sensed this was going to happen... he saved my family and my house.... it could have been a serious disaster... i could have destroyed my home.. ruined the couch... all sorts of things.... the family would have disowed me.. and i would have embarrassed the wife to no end in front of her friends.... but fekal saved everyone... he knew that making me go outside was the only resolution. such a smart dog. :D he jumped in the water to protect himself... amazing. he knew i would be ok... it was a moving experience... i thought i was going to die. but i made it... i haven't been the same since.. but it could have gone so wrong. thank you fekal!
