What are good effective ways to prepare for an exam?

Best ways to prepare for a science exam?

  • Best ways to revise etc, how to not forget something as soon as you're about to answer a question?

  • Answer:

Look over your notes. Don't just skim through them, but read them out loud. If they're a lot, look at the overview statement (if your teacher gives you those). Don't try to memorize and cram because that's never a good idea. EVER. Try to rewrite the main ideas and topics, and try to connect concepts because that always helps me. If you only read over and over again, you may remember it for a few days, but then you'll have to study for the next test as well. When you find similarities in concepts, it's a lot easier to look at a question and say, "Oh, that's what it means." You should sleep at least 9 hours before an exam day. Try to study before dinner because usually most people get distracted after having a break and eating. I normally sleep at around 9:00 on exam days and wake up at 6:30 so then I would have time to look back at notes and try to remember some things I studied the day before. Hope this helps! Good luck on your test !

Know the definitions and the ways to use them in problems. Be able to derive the basic formulas and equations. Be relaxed enough to look at the questions and not get flustered with them. Be able to break every problem into its proper components, and visualise what the answer will look like. Breathe deeply when you start to feel the panic about a question. As for sleep beforehand, get enough to be relaxed on the day - this starts at least a week before the exams and tests.

Do more and more practice problems of different varieties without having to look back at the text for reference to see if you have what it takes to adapt to any question they might give you on a test. Then if you get the wrong answer or are not sure, you can look back at the text. Ideally, get a full night's sleep, before the test, then if you can, wake up early and do some spot reviewing on stuff that you feel you aren't completely sure of.

Absolutely the best way to prepare for a test is to either with a pencil and paper copy (manually) the material OR better yet, paraphrase in your own words and write that down... The act of writing it down is magic... Get a good night's sleep...

trry an oblique approach... Take vitamins and especially the B complex. These will increase learning ability and memory retention.
