Answer:
For dot diagrams, what you need to know is how many electrons there are in a certain element. Once you know the element, then you can figure out how many valence electrons there are (an easy method for this is to look at the column number, it matches the number of valence electrons). Then, you fill in dots around the abbreviation in a counterclockwise manner, one dot at a time. The maximum number of electrons for any dot diagram will be eight. Hope this helps.
