What branch of science is behind the child's windmill?

  • I'm looking into generating some power from the wind and had the idea of using a design based on how those children's windmills are made. I was thinking of using an array of them each hooked up to a small motor-generator that contribute to the main output. An example of a child's windmill is here: http://www.bakerross.co.uk/product-Whirly-Windmills-W21.htm My question is, what branch of science does this fall under? I'd like to read about studies done in this type of field.
