I need help deciding on a major in the medical field.

I need help deciding what science field?

  • I'm in my second year of college and I have taken all of my gen-ed classes. I am signed up for the nursing field but have decided that its not what I really want to do. I want to get a BS degree (biology or chemistry) but I don't know what jobs are available or how to find the type of job that would be a good fit for me. I googled "what jobs are available for..." and ran into dead ends. It's a major decision and I realize that by now I should have had a better plan, I would really appriciate any links or comments.

  • Answer:

Follow your interests and abilities. As long as you can, take courses in both chemistry and biology. For example, I chose physics courses designed for physics majors, and also electronics courses aimed at electrical engineering majors. I got a solid background in both, and was later able to change majors from physics to EE with no delay in my graduation. And this is not a recommendation, but perhaps some consolation, but I didn't even think about jobs until the end of my senior year.
