How can I dial Australian 1-800 numbers from Overseas (USA?

1800 numbers?

  • i was wondering, does it make a difference wether or not you dial the 1-800 before some phone numbers? like what's the difference between a 1800 number and a regular phone number and what would happen if you dialed 1800 before say your friend's phone number? :)

  • Answer:

A 1-800-xxx-xxxx is a toll free number. 800 serves as the area code, and you will not be charged any long distance fees for placing the call. If you dial 1-800- and then your friend's 7 digit number, you will either get a business, or be told that it's not a valid number.

that's funny, i thought of the 1-800 thing too i guess it doesn't make a difference because it's not their number i think the commercial or TV shows have to buy the first part of the number

1800 i think is the prefix for tol free numbers meaning the reciever pays for the phone u make. Normally call cnetres for companies use this tpye of service.
