Does anyone have PTCB test material?

Anyone took PTCB test before?

  • WOW there are so many medicines and how do I remember all the materials. I am using barrons and kaplans book for review... Any pointers?

  • Answer:

I just took it earlier this afternoon and passed. Not sure exactly how well I did as it takes about a week to get your actual certificate and scoring details. While its fresh on my mind, I can offer a little advice. - Know your laws, drug schedules, etc - Know a decent amount about common drugs, you don't need to go nuts and know the ins and outs of the top 200, but a decent familiarity with the top 100 is good - Know your math...formulas, allegations, conversions, units etc - Hospital stuff...laminar flow hood, techniques etc Keep in mind, the tests vary quite a bit. I'm not sure how randomized they are, but a test someone you knew took and the test you take could be pretty different. Some may have 60% math, some may have 20%. Out of the 90 questions, I'd say I had about 15 more involved math questions and maybe 5 or 10 very basic calculations. However, a coworker of mine said hers was almost all math. Just relax, though. It's really not as hard as you think and the scoring seems pretty lenient. You need a 650 or better to pass out of 900, so that is about 72% to pass. Thankfully, I've been a technician long enough to know the basics, but even starting from scratch with enough studying I think any one can do it, honestly.
