Keep getting weird chest pains...?
-
Hi, I'm a 16 year old girl, in reasonably good health, apart from the fact that i have this weird genetic type of diabetes, (MODY), but anyhow... Since about July i've been having these strange pains in my chest, when it started, it was like a gripping pain on the left side of my chest, that would only last a minute or so, but it used to happen a couple of times a day. It then settled down for a while, i still got it now and then, but in november it started getting bad again, and sometimes it would also be on the right side of my chest. I've also had a sort of sqaushy, pushing down feeling lower down in my chest, almost my stomach, but not like, feeling sick or anything. Then one night a few weeks ago, the pain started on the right side, and gradually spread round to my left side, i know it sounds stupid, but it felt almost as if my lung had collapsed! it hurt to breathe deeply and all i could do was sit down. This lasted from about 9pm till the morning. But i haven't had that kind of pain since. So, i've been to different doctors, and i've had a chest x ray, ECG and echo, which all came back normal. One doctor thought it might be gastro related, and so prescribed me Gaviscon (basically an anta acid). Its difficult to say whether it has helped or not because, as i usually get the pains a few times a day, and they usually only last a maximumof 10 minutes, and go away by themselves anyway. Having said that, it is getting really annoying now, cos whenever i get it, its like a sudden gripping pain, and also as if someone is hammering into my chest. I've even had it during exams which is annoying, and when i've been out shopping, etc. Sometimes i even feel dizzy afterwards. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to the pains, its not like just after i've eaten or exercised or anything, its really random. The doctors don't seem to have a clue what it is, and although they keep saying they dont think its heart related, they're reffering me to a cardiologist anyway! Anyone have any ideas what it could possibly be??? Thanks :) (btw, they are definetly not panic attacks)

Answer:
Cud be heartburn... or a muscle spasm... but the area and description is congruent with Angina pain,,, which is just the beginning of a much fatal condition Called Myocardial infarction or in layman terms Heart Attack.... So it's best to be get checked by a cardiologist and diabetes is a predisposition for Angina and MI
