I want to go to med school.

I need some advice, should I abandon my dreams of starting a business if I want to go to med school?

  • Since I was 7 years old I have loved business. It's my favourite hobby. I want to start an online business (direct sales company for teens) but I am in Year 11 in UK where we have many important GCSE exams. This September I go into Sixth form which is very important. Med school has also been a dream for a long time (I want to become a plastic surgeon). I get very high grades and work hard in my studies. I fear that starting a business or two will prevent me from getting the high grades this summer I usually get. Starting this business will make me so so happy but med school is a dream. What do you think I should do?

    Starting a business is likely to detract from your essential need to study. If your dream is medicine then you should follow that. There may be many barriers and distractions in the way but the key is not to let them divert you from your ultimate goal.

once u get into med school ull have loads to study. U may not get sufficient spare time for your buisness. And buisness will also require time. If u dont give time to ur buisness u may incur huge loss. Get into med skool first then u can decide on your own wether you can manage both things simultaneously or not. There are few medical students who manage some odd job / a part time buisness along with studies

This appeals to my life so much. You can merge the two Id love to go into business, but since birth I've been trained to be a doctor. Literally, every day I'm doing something to propel my future of becoming a doctor. Both my parents are doctors too so I understand the predicament you're in too some degree. Anyway, there are two solutions to your questions 1. when you study medicine, you have to study business as well to go into the medical field, so you could do what my dad does and own a private practice - own your own business and do medicine. Or you could do what my friends have done and finish med school and then invest in businesses to the point that you could be self sufficient. Hope that helps.
