Answer:
I'm glad you want to be a GP as, I'm also training to become a GP. I'm taking my GCSE's now, but the key subjects you should take are: - Science (single, double and tripple-if offered) - English - Maths - PE (theory) - A language - a social subject - ICT All of these subjects will help you with various tasks, and they will also be good to put on your CV. At A-level, you should take: - Chemistry - Biology - a social subject (pshycology) - and a cultural subject From there you will go to university, to medical school, to being a juniour doctor for a year. Then you will begin to training to become a GP or surgeon. Best wishes Bryony P.S. You don't need to have physics and maths now, as long as you gain a B or higher in maths at gcse level. Don't panic, you'll be fine :)

i am a GP. Its 5 years at medical school, and about 4 years after as a doctor, then you'll be a fully fledged GP. After the 5 yrs med school, you will be a Dr working in a hospital, and you take up specialist training then to be a GP. GCSE wise, make sure you do all 3 sciences - biology, chemistry and physics, Alevel wise - you used to need 2 sciences and maths or 3 sciences - if you don't do these you used to be able to access medicine through an access course to teach you the sciences - not sure if these are still running. Look up university guidance and ask your school careers guidance team.

GP = General Practitioner (It means a doctor!) You need to graduate High school with a good enough standing to get into college. Then you need to get into college. Then you need to graduate college with flying colors, which is really not that hard :P In college you need to take classes like Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy. Most pre med students either major in Biology or Chemistry. The important thing is to meet the requirements of the specific med school you want to get into. Then you have to get accepted into med school Then you have to make it thought the 4 years of med school Then you have to do more years in an apprenticeship before you can begin your own practice. College 4 Years Med School 4 Years Apprentice 2ish Years

You will need to go to university and study medicine. You should be aiming for as many A*s as possible at GCSE, doesn't matter what as long as you do maths, science and English, which are compulsory anyway. For A-level you should aim for As in chemistry and biology and another subject of your choice and aim to get in some good work experience. For more info try looking at online university prospectuses for the entry requirements for medicine. Good luck.

A GP is a general practitioner - why don't people know what that is! :S anyway, it is great you are thinking from an early age. at gcse, take separate science/triple award. the one where you have more science lessons. at gcse, you will need minimum 7A*s and rest As to get in to a medicine degree course at university. at A level, you need to have biology and chemsitry. they like you to take maths as well. those three by themselves or another subject of your choice added. and you need all A grades at A level. then you need to apply to a medicine degree in a good university. thats about 4-6 years generally. and then training as a doctor/gp lasts a further 5-7 years. and then you become a consultant :) i definately recommend you go in to private practice in the future. serious cash! it's tough stuff, but if you start preparing now then you've got a really good head start. hope i gave you some good info :) good luck!
