What is the difference between a neonatal nurse and a neonatal nurse practitioner?

  • i'm looking into being a neonatal nurse . but i did research and the neonatal nurse Practitioner came up, whats the differences in what they do and the schooling? and can you become a Practitioner after becoming a nurse.? like continue on while working ? and what are the salaries for both? i really need help i'll appreciatte anyones answer(:

  • Answer:

Nurse practitioners are midlevel providers who can provide health care to patients under the supervision of a physician. They have more privileges than nurses such as the ability to diagnose, prescribe meds, order tests and perform procedures. NPs must first become nurses and work as a nurse for several years before going to school to become an NP. You can go to school while working full time however it will take longer to get your degree. NPs make more than nurses because of their advanced education.
