What can I do about sweating so much?

Are you dehydrated? Sweating too much? What can replenish the electrolytes and other essentials that are lost?

  • I am searching for all and any info about what kinds of food or drink that will help replenish the loss of electrolytes in your body due to sweating to much or being/becoming dehydrated. It's downright hot this summer and I have been taking these OTC (over the counter) packets rehydration salts and mixing with water daily. The composition is: 1.75g of Sodium Chloride. 0.75g of Potassium Chloride. 1.45g of Sodium Citrate. 10g of Anhydrous Glucose. I don't drink gatorade or poerade because of the sucrose and dyes, so I am looking for natural ways to replenish my body with the essentials due to over sweating. Serious replies only please.

My husband had a problem with his electrolytes while working as vendor machine delivery guy in the Texas heat. He couldn't drink enough gatorade or water to keep up with it and he ended up w/ heat stroke. A wonderful woman at the health food store gave me some electrolyte pills that worked wonders. They were less than $5.00 a bottle and a bottle lasted around a month. I'd suggest going to a health foodstore and ask for them. They were little gel cap with electrolytes no extras, no frills, worked wonders. Drink lots of water too of course. Here are some homemade recipes, I've not made them so I can't say what they taste like. I just found them on the web. Homemade Gatorade 1 pack unsweetened Kool aid (any flavor) 2 quarts cold water 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 cup orange juice Mix together. This equals the electrolyte replacement found in many popular drinks on the market. Electrolyte Replacement Drink 1 cup water 1 Tablespoon orange juice or 2 tsp. lemon juice 1 Tablespoon sugar - DO NOT use a low calorie sugar sub. 1 pinch salt. Add ingredients to water and shake well. Will keep at least 24 hours without refrigeration, weeks if kept cold For those who do not like citrus, use 3 oz. of cranberry juice cocktail in 5 oz. of water but do not add sugar.

Gatorade contains: calories sodium potassium carbohydrates sugars Powerade contains: carbohydrates water b-vitamins electrolytes (sodium and potassium) flavouring (sugars) calories While Gatorade, Powerade, Propel, and all of their various offshoots boast superiority to water in some way or another, drinks that contain electrolytes are only at their most effective during extended periods of intensive exercise. Water is a much better substitute for normal periods of exercise. If you usually exercise for an hour or more, you can easily replenish and rehydrate your muscles with bottles of water. If your body mostly consists of water in the first place, why replace that water with some foreign liquid?

Pedialite. And yes, the stuff that is for babies. Is it's safe for them, it is safe for you. It is used for babies with diariah, because it rehydrates them...i know, I'm a father.
