Anesthesiologist vs CRNA?

If you chose to go into anesthesiologist or CRNA do you regret it?

  • I think i want to become a CRNA, but a lot of people say that its similar to becoming an anesthesiologist? I know that CRNA takes less time, (by 4 years?) but the difference in pay is around $150,000. If you went into one of these, do you regret doing so? Would you do the other?

  • Answer:

CRNAs do every kind of surgery trauma, OB, neuro, open heart, etc. It really comes down to whether you want to be a doctor or a nurse and how much time/$$$ you have to invest in it.

If all you want to do is routine lists, then go CRNA. If you want to do emergency cases, trauma, head injuries, ICU, or medical evacuation do an fellowship in anesthesiology.
